Working With Lecturers and Tutors at University
The most important working relationships you will forge on your degree course will be with lecturers and tutors.Above all others these are the people who can really make a difference to your marks, so make sure you establish an appropriate relationship with them.
To get the most from your lecturers and tutors:
- Be professional; turn up on time every day
- Be respectful, and do not presume to know more than they do, you will not!
- Show you are a serious student by getting ahead with work, reading, researching and asking intelligent questions
- Hand your work in early and to the best possible good standard
Students who go begging for help the day before an exam rarely receive a good reception.
Conversely, students who consistently work hard, display genuine interest in their subject; are punctual and committed usually get far more time and guidance from their lecturers.
If you were a lecturer who would you rather help, someone who was late and lazy, or someone who displayed real commitment to the course?
